Abstract

Introduction: This study was designed and conducted to investigate the perceptions of learning environment according tomedical sciences studentsin terms of the role of gender, place of residence and residing in dormitory in Birjand University of Medical Sciences during  2014 – 2015.

Methods: 269 students of medical sciences were recruited for this cross sectional study. A questionnaires on the perception of the learning environment was administered and independent T-test was used to analyze the data.

Result: The results showed that students' perceptions of their academic ability and educational atmosphere in terms of their gender are different (p<0.05). However, significant difference was not observed in terms of place of residence. The results showed that the perceptions of learning environment in –residents of dormitory are different (p < 0.01) from the rest.

Conclusion: More training is necessary to improve the  preparation for positive environments particularly for female students.

Abstract

Introduction: Given the importance of using e-learning in medical education, this study aimed to Anticipate the e-learning acceptance according to  nursing students enthusiasm scale at Gonabad University of Medical Sciences.

Methods: This cross sectional study conducted on all undergraduate students of nursing and midwifery who were enrolled at Gonabad University of Medical Sciences in 2015. 172 students were recruited and enthusiasm and e-learning questionnaire were filled for them. SPSS V.16 package and the independent t-test, Pearson correlation and multiple regression model were used to analyse data.

Results: The results showed there is no significant differenceهد  the relation between male and female students' enthusiasm(P>0.05). There is a significant relationship between academic enthusiasm component with e-learning acceptance (p<0.01), and components of the behavioral, emotional and cognitive enthusiasm, with  acceptance of e-learning.

Conclusion: The findings showed that the components of academic enthusiasm is predicting acceptance of e-learning by students. Workshops and training courses may enhance students' enthusiasm. Stakeholders should also be organized by universities to enhance acceptance of e-learning.

Abstract

Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of virtual social networks and their attitude towards the students' academic buoyancy of Birjand University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: This was a descriptive-correlational study. The population consisted of students of the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences of the Birjand University of Medical Sciences in the academic year of 2011-2012. According to stratified random sampling, 201 students (71 males and 130 females) were selected. Questionnaires were used to collect data using Khodayari et al.'s (2014) virtual social networks, Hosseinchari and Dehqanizadeh's (2012) academic buoyancy. Data were analyzed using independent t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, one way ANOVA and SPSS software version 22.
Result: There was no significant relationship between the duration of membership in social networks and the time allocated to virtual social networks with students' academic buoyancy (P >0/01). The use of virtual social networks was significantly different between male and female students (T= -2/11, p< 0/03). There was no significant difference between the male and female students' buoyancy (T= 0/48, p> 0/05). There was a positive and significant relationship between the components of communication and easy communication with academic buoyancy (P <0/176).
Conclusion: It is suggested that through the holding workshops and training courses at universities, efforts were made to raise awareness about the scientific use of virtual networks and familiarity of students (especially new students) with a variety of virtual networks to improve and enhance the students' learning and buoyancy.
