Introduction: Evaluation of educational processes in different fields of medical sciences has high priority because of the important role in professional experts training. Dentistry, as an important field of medical sciences, requires scientific & professional skills. Surveying the opinions of dental students as the main actual consumers of the education is one of the most popular methods to evaluate the quality of dental clinical education. The aim of this study was to evaluating Students’ attitude from education of Clinical Skills from Pediatric Dentistry Department at Yazd Dental School (Iran) in 2015-2016.
Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 59 fifth and sixth grade undergraduate dental students in pediatric dentistry at Yazd dental school. A questionnaire including 21 multiple choice questions about 8 parts of clinical skills in pediatric dentistry was given to each student. Data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney in SPSS software.
Results: The highest success rate was in prophylaxy and fluoride therapy,fissure sealant and preventive resin restoration(PRR), infilteration injection and block injection, and the lowest success rate in placing stainless steel crown(SSC),choosing case of space maintenance and deasigning kind of space management .Rate of success in education of treatment plane,behaviour management of children, prophylaxy and fluoride therapy,preparation of restorative cavity and it,s consideration and choosing the type of restorative material choosing the type of restoration material was significant with sextual.
Conclusion: Clinical success rate in skills education of stainless steel crown(SSC),choosing case of space maintenance and it,s kind of student self reported was not sufficien,thus need warrant greater emphasis this skills in the undergraduate curriculum.
