Introduction : Inhibiting factors in clinical learning of nursing students cause a huge gap between the optimum and the current situation in performance of the graduates . Due to the lack of a comprehensive and reliable tool for the identification of these factors in Iran , this study aimed to develop a scale to assess the related items to nursing students’ clinical learning. Methods : This descriptive study used Delphi approach to assess factors associated with clinical learning of nursing students in nursing schools of Yazd province in 2013 . The expert panel includes all registrars in nursing faculties, nursing clinical tutors, nursing personnel involved in education and years three and four nursing students. In the first round of Delphi, data collection tool was a structured questionnaire with 82 item s and an open question for additional suggestions. Sampling method in those with responsibility was purposive, due to their limited number, and in other groups was random. Sample size was 48 of whom 41 agreed to participate in the study. According to the Delphi process, scope and scale of items were studied by 41 members of the panel t o reach over than 75% consensus. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS V 17.0 software using various analytic tests . Results : Consensus on the questionnaire items was obtained during the two- round Delphi, and in the final questionnaire, the percentage of agreement between expert panel reached 79.85 %. Panel members came to agreement on factors associated with clinical learning questionnaire consisted 89 items in seven domains of educational planning (79.94%) , evaluation (76.21%), resources and regulation of clinical environment (81.17%), professional communications (81.25%), clinical instructor (82/62), clinical instructor teaching methods (81.25%) and student learning (81.91%) . Conclusion : The clinical learning factors questionnaire for nursing students, with 79.85% consensus of the expert panel, can be considered as a comprehensive and valid questionnaire to assess clinical training and to identify weaknesses and challenges of nursing students’ clinical learning in Iran.

Introduction: Different studies regarding criteria of admission for medical students indicated that prediction of success of students at the university is the most important issue. The aim of this study was to investigate the relation between High School Grade Point Averages (HsGPAs) and university admission test ( Konkoor) ranking with students’ success indices such as their Basic Sciences Course Averages (BSCAs), Comprehensive Basic Sciences Exam (CBSE) scores and Comprehensive Pre-Internship Exam (CPIE) scores . Methods: This cross sectional descriptive study investigated the records of 356 medical students enrolled in Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences between 1996-2001. Demographic data of students including their sex, admission group and their study indices such as HsGPAs , Konkoor ranking, BSCAs, CBSE scores , and CPIE scores was collected from their university records. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS V. 15 and the p-value under 0.05 considered as significant. Results: The mean of Konkoor ranking for the enrolled students was 1276.3 (± 911.7). The average HsGPAs was 18.46 ( ± 1.14), BSCAs was 14.92 ( ±1.36), CBSE scores was 133.8 ( ±16.14), and finally for CPIE scores was 118.9 ( ±18.1). There was a significant relationship between HsGPAs and success indices according to sex and being local (P<0.01). There was no significant relationship between Konkoor ranking and the success indices. Conclusion: HsGPAs is more valuable than Konkoor ranking in predicting the success of students in Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences.

Abstract Introduction : Interest to the field of education will bring commitments which may lead to higher efficiency in the health care delivery field. The purpose of this study was to evaluate anesthesia students' awareness and interest into their field of study and future career. Methods : In this cross-sectional study, students studying in the field of anesthesia in Tabriz university of medical science in 2001-2002 academic year at the undergraduate level were entered into the study (n = 90). The data collection tool was a questionnaire consisting of 20 questions. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics, t-test and SPSS V-16 were used. Results : Overall, 8.7 percent of students were completely happy with their chosen program of study. Of all, 11.1% were quite concerned about their future career and 6.35 percent were concerned about their future career. Of all, 15.6 percent of them preferred to change their program of study if possible. There was a difference between the responses of men and women regarding their field of education (P <0.05). Conclusion : Most students were not aware about their future career before choosing their field of study. We suggest information and consultation sessions before enrolling in university. Also by introducing postgraduates programs in the field more students become encouraged to undertake the under graduate program.

Introduction: American library association (ALA) defined information literacy as a set of skills, which require an individual to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use it effectively. Information literacy affects research and educational activities. This study aims to evaluate the effect of weblog in increasing the information literacy of students. . Methods: This experimental study was carried out on 60 students enrolled in schools of Allied Health, Nursing & Midwifery and Public Health. They were randomly assigned into two arms of experiments and control. J the subjects in the experimental group received the educational program over two months via weblog. The level of information literacy in the two groups was assessed before and after training by questionnaire. Three steps were taken for examining validity and reliability of questionnaire including: translation to Farsi, reviewing by a specialist and estimation of the Cronbach's alpha (Cronbach's alpha=.0.88) .Finally data were analyzed using SPSS16. Results: Out of total 60, %36.7of participants were men. There was not any significant difference in mean score of information literacy before training in the two groups (P>0.05) , but after education the same test indicated a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.001) . In addition it was showed a significant difference between the mean score of information literacy in experimental group before and after training (P<0.001) . Conclusion: Using weblog for education, is a successful model for instruction of information literacy for students of medical sciences.

Introduction: Clinical training of nurses forms the basis of the entire educational program. One of the controversial aspects of clinical training is method of clinical training. Peer education can be a useful adjunctive model for clinical skills training The present research was conducted to study the effect of a mentorship program on educational satisfaction of nursing students in Imam Reza Hospital of Birjand in 2012. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was done on 60 masters nursing students of the 4th semester from the Islamic Azad University of Birjand who were randomly allocated into two groups,30 students in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. In the experimental group, there was a student of the 8th semester as the mentor for each three junior students, and in the other group, there was only an instructor available without any mentor. Educational satisfaction of the students was evaluated before and after their training with ascertained educational satisfaction questionnaire. The data was analyzed using SPSS V.18, independent t test, paired t, and chi-square test. Results: The average of satisfaction score in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. The difference between the mean scores of the two groups was significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: Executing peer education program (mentorship) is more effective in increasing the nursing students' educational satisfaction. we suggest that clinical curriculum developers consider this method as a supplementary educational means .
