abstract ={ Introduction: One of the most important decision for everyone in life is choosing an appropriate education to undertake a profession later in life. This study aims to investigate individual, environmental and professional motivation who enrolled in dentistry courses of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences and Health Services and Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire-based survey undertook involving first year dental students who enrolled at Shahid Sadoughi University (SSU) of Medical Sciences and Health Services and Tehran University of Medical Sciences،(TUMS) in 2012. The questionnaire included demographic and individuals, environmental and professional motivations of the students. After validating the questionair, it was distributed among the students. Data were entered into SPSS and analysed accordingly. Results: Participation rate was 40% for SSU and 79% for TUMS. SSU students reported continual desire, in individual domain, main university entering exam, in environmental domain and possibilities for postgraduate education nad having own clinic in the professional domain. However, TUMS students were more influenced by continual desire, personal interest and family recommendation, income and possibility to have their own clinic. Conclusion: Itseemes that the most important factors to dentistry by SSU and TUMS first year dental students were environment and professional factors. The significant effect of professional factors suggests that by improving these factors, the motivation of interested students may increase.  },

abstract ={Introduction: Understanding determinants of job satisfaction may increase faculty members' motivation towards their educational and research goals. This study aims to determine job satisfaction among faculty members of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences in 2012.Method: This is a cross sectional analytic study carried out on 60 faculty members of North Khorasan University of Medical Science in 2012. Herzberg standard questionnaire which had 11 sections of job satisfactions were used to collect data. Data Analysis were done using SPSS V. 19.Results: The highest average score were reported for the nature of the academic activities and related communications and the lowest scores were reported for the political environment, salary, job security and work environment. In total, the overall job satisfaction rating of faculty members was 3.26±0.37. There were statistical significant relationship between marital status, academic position, type of employment, place of work, type of provided services and job satisfaction (P-value&#60;0.05).Conclusion: The results showed that job satisfaction of the faculty members was average. Thus, it is essential for university managers to take more attention to the factors that may increase motivation and satisfaction of faculty members in North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences. },

title = {The effect of problem-based learning training on nursing students’ critical thinking skills}, 
abstract ={Introduction: Critical thinking is an essential part of clinical decision making and professional competence of nurses. One of the proposed ways to create such traits in students is their education with an active and problem-oriented method such as problem based learning. This study was conducted to determine the effect of problem based learning training on critical thinking skills of fourth-year nursing students studying at Faculty of Midwifery at Urmia University of Medical Sciences (UUMS).Method: This is a quasi-experimental study undertook in semester 1 -2013 with 50 year four nursing students participated from Faculty of Midwifery of UUMS. Seventh semester nursing students was recruited to the intervention arm and eighth semester nursing students to the control arm. Data collection tool was a standard California Critical Thinking Skills Questionnaire. All participants completed the questionnaires before and after problem based learning training workshops. Students in the intervention arm attended in the three small groups of problem solving education classes for six sessions. Results: Critical thinking skills in the intervention arm was significantly better than the control arm after problem based learning training (P&#60;0.001). Comparing the two arms, the mean difference in critical thinking scores in both arms was significantly difference between the two arms after intervention (P&#60;0.001). Conclusion: Problem based learning training promotes critical thinking skills over the traditional learning in nursing students. Therefore, this method is suggested to be used in training nursing students. },

abstract ={ Introduction: Developing course plan is essential for an effective education. to evaluate the course plan implementation, students can be surveyed. This study aim to assess the compliance between what the teachers' taught and the course plans of various courses from the viewpoint of students who enrolled in the School of Public Health (SPH) of Mashhad University of Medical Science (MUMS.(Methods: In this descriptive and cross- sectional study, 138 students were asked about specialized course plans implementation in the second semester of the academic year 2011-2012 year. A6-scale Likert questionnaire which has been designed for each course separately were used to gather data which has been analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA by SPSS 16.5 at 0.05 significant level.Results: Minimum and Maximum compliances were 18.8% and 100% respectively. On average, the compliances was 77.0±20.6. No significant correlations were observed between academic rank and compliances of taught content. The results showed a significant difference between the mean scores of different educational levels (P&#60;0.05, f=5.8).Conclusion: Monitoring of implementation of the curriculum, along with empowering the teachers about developing and using their own course plan may improve the Alignment between the course plans and the taught materials. },

abstract ={Introduction: Scientific Olympiads aim to evaluate the level of creativity, problem-solving skills, ability to reasoning, decision- making and team working skills among the participants. Talented students can be recognized by Olympiads to provide them more focused mentorship and training. This study aims to evaluate the quality and content of the 4th Medical Student' Scientific Olympiad (Med Olympiad) in Iran.Methods: This cross -sectional study was conducted in 2012-2013 on the participants of the 4th Med Olympiad of Iran. The research sample was selected by census. Data collection was performed by a researcher-made questionnaire validated by the investigators. Results: Among the 320 participants from four groups, 61 students (27%) reported the coaching activities of their university high and very high, 76 students (34%) moderate and 88 students (39%) low and very low. The quality of Med Olympiad competition reported 3.1/5±1 and the achievmnet of goals was reported 3.1±1. There was a significant correlation between the level of preparedness in medical universities and ranking of the university (P=0.001). There was no significant correlation between age, sex, academic grade, education, the domain in which the students participated, preparedness level, quality of the competition and access to Med Olympiad goals (P&#62;0.05).Conclusion: Preparation of universities, quality of Med Olympiad and achieving the goals were area for improvements for the next Med Olympiad. },

abstract ={ Introduction: Role-playing according to problem-solving and educational video clips are new and effective methods of training midwifery students. This study aimed to assess nursing students' experiences of training using role playing, based on problem solving, and displaying video clips in the psychiatric department of Imam Reza Hospital of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences. Method: Nursing students in the first semester of  2011-2012 and 2012-2013  participated in a mental health training programs using role playing scenarios, based on problem solving skills, and were displayed educational video clips. Before and after performing each scenario, students completed a checklist related to role playing and videos, and were asked to evaluate them. The views and opinions of students were collected using focus group discussions and interviews. Quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed using SPSS (V 18) and the 7-step method of Colaizzi, respectively.Results: The mean score of  students before and after role playing based on problem solving and displaying educational videos showed a significant difference (P&#60;0.001).The majority of students reported that experiencing the two training methods was useful. A summary of the key findings of this study demonstrated that the students reported some difficulties including the dynamics of mind, interaction and optimal learning.Conclusion: Students' experience showed that role-playing and videos are useful training methods to learn psychiatric subjects. It is recommended to continue these training methods to obtain effective feedback.},

This study aims to investigate critical thinking skills of dental students of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences.Methods: This is a cross sectional descriptive study. Sixty four dental students enrolled in Faculty of Dentistry of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, Iran. Was investigated in 2013. The California Critical Thinking Test, Form B (CCTST, FB) including 34 multiple choice questions was used to assess the critical thinking skills of the students. The collected Data were analyzed by SPSS software using T-test, ANOVA, Spearman and Pearson Correlation coefficient.Results: The mean of critical thinking skills in the first year students was 13.9±2.4 and in last year was 11.8 ±2.9 There was no significant difference between the first and last year students' scores. Dimensions of critical thinking were not related to demographic factors, gender, last year score, marital status, and academic level (P&#62;0.05).Conclusion: The mean scores of critical thinking skills in the first year students was higher than the last year students. Critical thinking was not enhanced among dental students while studying at the university. Lecturers in dental universities should focus more on nurturing critical thinking skills of the students to improve the clinical competency of dental students. },

This study aims to investigate the relationship between the meta-cognitive awareness of reading strategies in student and their achievement in Iran University of Medical Sciences. Methods : This cross sectional- analytic study was carried out on students of Iran University of Medical Science during the 2012-2013 academic years. Three hundred seventeen students were selected through stratified random sampling from all students studied in basic sciences, physiopathology and clerkship stages of the medical program. The tool used was meta-cognitive awareness of reading strategies Inventory (MARSI). Data were analyzed by SPSS 16 software and Pearson correlation-coefficients, variance analysis tests and independent T-tests were administered. Results: In this study the mean score of medical students' awareness of reading strategies showed optimal situation, the mean score of medical students' awareness of reading strategies and its three categories showed a significant relationship with students' score of academic achievement. Conclusion: Based on our findings it is concluded the medical students awareness of planning strategy and setting the purpose of reading have more influence on academic achievement than meta-cognition strategies, therefore medical education curriculum should be emphasized on these strategies to empower medical students to be independent in learning and to be self-regulating in their learning process .  },

abstract ={Introduction: Following the "Integration Program" of general physician training curriculum recommended by the Department of Medical Education of Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, several concerns raised towards the effect of this program. This study aimed to assess students' view towards integration of limb anatomy course to the pre-clerkship medical program in Iran. Method: The study was conducted on 80 medical students enrolled in the third semester of medical program of Shahed University. Changes in the program according to the syllabus approved by the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution. These changes include new content arrangement, integration of limb anatomy into pre-clerkship medical program, adding useful contents, methods of preparation prior to classroom theory and encouraging team learning. A questionnaire was used to collect students view about the integration program. Results: Students found the integration useful in terms of content of the course (%83), learning effectiveness, lasting of knowledge %78.2, improved clinical skills %66.4, positive attitude toward anatomy %86.4, active participation in a group lesson %70/4 and ability to recall %79.6 respectively. The differences in content course and positive attitude were significant. Conclusion: Medical students showed agreement with this new method and recommended it for other specific courses.  },

abstract ={Introduction: Using modern methods of teaching can increase critical thinking skills and confidence of students. This study aims to assess 'team effectiveness design' on critical thinking, confidence and learning of nursing students. Methods: In this study 52 students of the first two semesters of Nursing and Midwifery School of Khoramabad were studied over two semesters. Before and after implementation of teaching method a questionnaire was used to measure student’s confidence, performance and critical thinking. Results: In both groups, the mean score of critical thinking after the intervention increased. The score of critical thinking before and after lecture was significantly correlated (P=0.001). The confidence score after conduction of team performance was enhanced. There was no significant relationship between the scores before and after intervention in terms of performance (P=0.5). Test score increase after the intervention (P=0.001 .( Conclusion: Modern methods of teaching, learning and deepening it, is possible through ''team effectiveness design". The method led to the development of critical thinking, increase confidence and satisfaction.  },

abstract ={ Introduction: Education as a main responsibility of universities may not be fulfilled without conduction of the relevant research. Considering that educational development is facilitated through educational research, study of related subjects is necessary. This study aimed to determine educational obstacles of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medicine Sciences' (SSU) academics. Their ability to conduct educational research will be investigated too.  Methods: This research is a analytic cross sectional study conducted on all academics of SSU who engaged in teaching during 2014. Data collection tool was Spreitzer empowerment questionnaire.  Results: According to the SSU academics, score for educational obstacles was 65.9/100. The highest and lowest scores for professional and scientific obstacles were 78.93/100 and 56.4/100 respectively. Faculty members’ empowerment score was 78.15/100. There was a significant relationship between gender and administrative responsibility with scientific obstacles. Conclusion: According to SSU academics, educational research obstacles includes: professional, institutional, individual, financial, facilitative, and scientific. There was no significant relation with empowerment, therefore by changing academics' viewpoints, there is a better possibility to conduct educational-based research.},

abstract ={Introduction : In universities of medical sciences, teachers are known as key elements in education and research . Therefore, evaluating performance is the best way to quality control academic members in a medical educational system. The current study aimed to investigate students' attitudes towards current teaching characteristics of teachers in Birjand University of Medical Sciences . Method: Using a standard electronic questionnaire, the attitude of the students was assessed toward their teachers’ characteristics and teaching . Then, the final semester exams and the total average scores of the students was automatically called from the university database and loaded in learning management system’s database. The data was analyzed using T-test and analysis of covariance. Results: From seven different faculties, a total of 827 participants enrolled into this study. The average score of the students’ attitude towards teaching of their teachers was 4.16 out of 5, showing a high satisfaction of the students regarding instructional elements of their teachers’ characteristics . The faculty of emergency medicine had the highest mid and highest average of satisfaction based on the students’ attitude among other faculties. Also, there was a significant difference between male and females regarding their attitudes’ scores (P&#60;0.05). Conclusions: Teachers’ evaluation provides a background for competition, selecting superior teachers from student perspective and also helping students for choosing their teachers in next years' courses. Teacher evaluation should not be only restricted to students attitudes’ scores. It is expected to provide various protocols in order to bring teachers’ evaluation scores into reality .  },

Methods: This was a qualitative - content analysis of summative type . Verses of Shahnameh which covered medical issues were classified and analyzed . Relevant indexes (Kashfolabyat) were used to address the verses for readers. Results: Medicine and health were regularly referred in Shahnameh . Various medical and surgical treatment were mentioned and healing effects of herbs were discussed . Conclusions: Medical and health references in Shahnameh, and the relevant terminology, may help academics and students in understanding old Persian writings about these subjects.  },

Data collection based on self-report writing questionnaires. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 20 at α=0.05 significant level. Results: The subjects reported 75.13%, 65.33%, 64.5%, and 59.21 % of receivable scores of process, context, input and product, respectively. In addition, there was a direct and significant correlation between all domains . Conclusion : According to the study findings, in the evaluation and correlation of domains models, we can explicitly how to holding festivals was appropriate and the main reason for the poor evaluation in product domain is related to the problems in input and product domains.  },

The aim of this study is to evaluate entrepreneurship capabilities in the students of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Methods: in this descriptive–analytic study, 200 students from Medical Faculty of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences on 2003-2004 were enrolled in a simple random sampling. According to the research objectives, data was gathered with a questionnaire. Validity of the questionnaire was assessed based on expert panel. Data was analyzed by using SPSS11.5 software. Results: The findings indicated that levels of entrepreneurial ability of students were higher than average, although senior and junior students showed equally entrepreneurship capabilities. Entrepreneurial competencies of students according to the subscales of entrepreneurship skills was statically significant (p&#60;0.001).  Conclusions: Strengthening of entrepreneurship capabilities in students based on training programs are emphasized as a means to achieve economic prosperity. The results of this study showed that there were no difference between capable of Entrepreneurship of senior and junior students, thus educational curriculum should be revised to enter training entrepreneurship in university curricula. },

abstract ={Introduction: Pop quizzes, are short tests, which are held without prior notice of the students and in irregular period of time to formatively evaluate students during a semester. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pop quiz on medical students’ learning in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was performed in the first semester of the academic year 2012-2013. Overall, 120 medical students who attended the neuroanatomy course participated in the study. Students were divided randomly into two groups of 60.Teaching in both control (n=30) and experimental groups (n=30) was performed with the same content and the same ‎lecturer. During the semester, eight quizzes were held in experiment group. Final test scores were entered into the SPSSV.18. Using descriptive statistical tests, average scores of both groups were determined. For determining the effect of tests on students’ performance, independent T-test was used. Results: The average scores of the experimental group was13.57 (±2.73) and in the control group was 14.32 (±3.04). However, learning score was higher, although not significant (P = 0.41). Conclusion: op quizzes as formative assessment did not affect the final test scores of medical students. The reason may be the impact of other factors on student learning.},

This study has been done to determine process of ethical growth and achieving ethical competency in health sciences students during inter-professional education. Methods: This interpretive- integrative literature review study has been done in 2013 with integrative search in Pub med, CINHAL, Ovid, Science Direct data bases as well as Google scholar using key words including inter-professional education and ethics. All English language papers published between 2000 and 2013 were included. Of 155 retrieved articles, 15 documents were appropriate based on critical appraisal criteria and analyzed according to thematic synthesis method.. Then extracted text were entered and managed by MAXQDA software. Results: Promotion of professional socialization process of health sciences students”, “creating a common values system” and “forming inter-professional identity” were the three main themes emerge indicating process of ethical growth in health sciences students during inter-professional education. The themes were explained by theories such as social contact, human development, transformational learning situated learning, constructivist learning and social cognitive They are the conceptual framework in inter-professional education model. Conclusion: Inter-professional education with promotion of professional socialization process of health sciences' students, renewing and internalization of inter-professional common values and forming inter-professional identity, as complement of professional identity , empowers and enables students for effective collaboration with others. These facilitates ethical and safe performance of the graduates in clinical environments.   },

The purpose of this study is to determine the professional duties of postgraduates of family health major according to the viewpoints of stakeholders. Methods: In this cross sectional study, five type one universities (high quality universities) and four type two and three universities were randomly selected using Delphi technique. The participants were directors of health departments, the vice chancellor of public health authorities, the assistance and managers of health and treatment networks, the employees of family health units, and also public health undergraduate students. We developed a questionnaire to gather data. The questionnaire consisted of an open ended and some demographic questions. Data was analyzed using the content analysis technique. In this case duties were defined. Then they were prioritized and finalized in a focus group.  Results: In the first step of Delphi 190 duties were extracted. Then we classified them, based on priority in the second Delphi, into 102 duties. Finally 16 items were grouped under the domain of providing services to families, 35 items were in the domain of planning, 50 items were in the domain of supervision, 5 items were in the domain of research, 13 items were in the domain of management, and 28 items in the domain of education. Conclusion: In order to plan for the education of required family health experts there is a need to define the duties of family health postgraduates. The results of this study can be used in the planning of the curriculum of this major.   },

abstract ={ Abstract Introduction: Creativity is an essential part of nursing care. Thus developing creativity skills in nursing education is a priority. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of instruction by concept-mapping and update the fundamental of nursing by teaching creativity skills to nursing students. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out on 70 nursing students, who were divided randomly into two equal experimental and control groups, in the Clinical Skills Lab of Tehran Nursing and Midwifery School. Educational content was presented in the form of concept-mapping in the experimental group and common method in the control group. Data collection included a demographic information and Abedi Creativity questionnaire; that filled at the beginning and at the end of four weeks course period. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (V. 21), using descriptive and analytical statistics at the significant level P&#60;0.05. Results: Before the intervention, mean total creativity’s score was 126.1±7.4 in the concept mapping group and 128.2±5.2 in the common group and the difference was not significant (P=0.07). However, after the intervention, a significant difference was found between the intervention and control group (157.8±7.3 vs. 138.1±5.1, P=0.01). Conclusion: After the intervention, the creativity skills in nursing students was improved in both group, but the Influence of education in concept-mapping group was greater than the common method. Further research with more time and for other lessons can be useful for evidence-based decision-making. },

The objective of this study is to determine the most important factors that influence the effectiveness of academics’ teaching methods from his/her graduate students’ point of view. Methods: This is a cross sectional-analytic study conducted in 2014. The participants were selected by census method according to the Registrar data of the School of Allied Medical Sciences, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The data collection tool was a questionnaire containing demographic questions as well as nine questions about effective factors on teaching. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were assessed, and the data was analyzed using analytic hierarchy process and Expert Choice V. 11 software. Results: According to the students participating in the study, the eloquent, simple expression and clear conveyance of the subject were the most important factors (0.216), while the assessment of students at each session, in the mid-term exam, and in the final exam was of the lowest importance regarding the effectiveness of academic teaching (0.057). No significant difference was found between male and female students considering factors affecting effective teaching. Conclusion: Results indicated that the eloquent and simple expression of subjects has the greatest impact on teaching effectiveness. Therefore, to promote the current situation, the high-ranking educational authorities of the university are required to take into account the quality of teaching effectiveness, for instance, to organize appropriate and purposeful training courses.},

abstract ={Introduction: A practical exam is important for evaluation of university students but there is not any satisfaction of traditional exams among clinical teachers. There are limited studies done for modification of traditional exams. This study aimed to compare the traditional and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) exams in term of clinical skills and satisfaction among dental students. Methods: Evaluation of thirty dental students was done with OSCE and traditional exams. A student was undergone oral medicine exam in the traditional form (10 questions) and OSCE (with ten stations). After the exam they fill questionnaire regarding their experience of the two methods. Data was analyzed with SPSS V.18. Mann-Whitney test, T test, chi square and Pearson correlation coefficient were used. Results: In the OSCE group, scores of questions in the field of cognition was higher and psychomotor was lower than the traditional exam (p=0.001). OSCE is better stimulator of clinical situations and its stressful environment. Conclusion: Despite mismatch found between traditional exams and medical educational goals, most of universities apply this method. it is recommended to use OSCE method in evaluation of all fields of dentistry.},

abstract ={Yazd Health Study (YaHS) is an endeavor to involve students in design, implementation and analysis of a large study. Over 150 graduate and post graduate students from various disciplines have been invited to participate in a large longitudinal study with 10000 samples. Participants were selected randomly from Yazd population, over 1000000 as December 2014. Four hundred variables grouped in the following sections were asked 1) demographics, 2) physical activity, 3)sleep quality and quantity, 4) mental health, 5) history y of chronic illnesses, 6) history of surgical operations, 7) dental health, 8) history of accidents, 9) dietetic habits, 10) occupation and communication history, 11) traditional medicine, 12) history of smoking and addiction and 13) women’s health. The interview follows by anthropometric measurements including weight, height, BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference, neck circumference and WHR. Per cent body fat, % body muscle, visceral fat, resting metabolism have been measured followed by pulse and blood pressure. Students were trained to participate in design, piloting and the main phase of data collection. Students evaluated the experience useful and constructive. In return of their collaboration in interviewing 50-100 study participants, they will receive data for their theses' proposal. This will help them to access a large and high quality set of data and disseminate the results in high quality peer reviewed journals as well as national and international conferences. The students mandated to write an executive summary of their thesis and disseminate it to health managers and inter-sectoral decision makers. Due to the lack of a comprehensive and reliable tool for the identification of these factors in Iran , this study aimed to develop a scale to assess the related items to nursing students’ clinical learning.   Methods : This descriptive study used Delphi approach to assess factors associated with clinical learning of nursing students in nursing schools of Yazd province in 2013 . The expert panel includes all registrars in nursing faculties, nursing clinical tutors, nursing personnel involved in education and years three and four nursing students. In the first round of Delphi, data collection tool was a structured questionnaire with 82 item s and an open question for additional suggestions.   Sampling method in those with responsibility was purposive, due to their limited number, and in other groups was random. Sample size was 48 of whom 41 agreed to participate in the study. According to the Delphi process, scope and scale of items were studied by 41 members of the panel t o reach over than 75% consensus. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS V 17.0 software using various analytic tests .   Results : Consensus on the questionnaire items was obtained during the two- round Delphi, and in the final questionnaire, the percentage of agreement between expert panel reached 79.85 %. Panel members came to agreement on factors associated with clinical learning questionnaire consisted 89 items in seven domains of educational planning (79.94%) , evaluation (76.21%), resources and regulation of clinical environment (81.17%), professional communications (81.25%), clinical instructor (82/62), clinical instructor teaching methods (81.25%) and student learning (81.91%) .   Conclusion : The clinical learning factors questionnaire for nursing students, with 79.85% consensus of the expert panel, can be considered as a comprehensive and valid questionnaire to assess clinical training and to identify weaknesses and challenges of nursing students’ clinical learning in Iran.},

abstract ={  Introduction: Different studies regarding  criteria of admission for medical students indicated that prediction of success of students at the university is the most important issue. The aim of this study was to investigate the relation between High School Grade Point Averages (HsGPAs) and university admission test ( Konkoor) ranking with students’ success indices such as their Basic Sciences Course Averages (BSCAs), Comprehensive Basic Sciences Exam (CBSE) scores and Comprehensive Pre-Internship Exam (CPIE) scores .   Methods: This cross sectional descriptive study investigated the records of 356 medical students enrolled in Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences between 1996-2001. Demographic data of students including their sex, admission group and their study indices such as HsGPAs , Konkoor ranking, BSCAs, CBSE scores , and CPIE scores was collected from their university records. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS V. 15 and the p-value under 0.05 considered as significant.   Results: The mean of Konkoor ranking for the enrolled students was 1276.3 (± 911.7). The average HsGPAs was 18.46 ( ± 1.14), BSCAs was 14.92 ( ±1.36), CBSE scores was 133.8 ( ±16.14), and finally for CPIE scores was 118.9 ( ±18.1). There was a significant relationship between HsGPAs and success indices according to sex and being local (P&#60;0.01). There was no significant relationship between Konkoor ranking and the success indices.   Conclusion: HsGPAs is more valuable than Konkoor ranking in predicting the success of students in Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences.  },

abstract ={  Abstract    Introduction : Interest to the field of education will bring commitments which may lead to higher efficiency in the health care delivery field. The purpose of this study was to evaluate anesthesia students' awareness and interest into their field of study and future career.   Methods : In this cross-sectional study, students studying in the field of anesthesia in Tabriz university of medical science in 2001-2002 academic year at the undergraduate level were entered into the study (n = 90). The data collection tool was a questionnaire consisting of 20 questions. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics, t-test and SPSS V-16 were used.   Results : Overall, 8.7 percent of students were completely happy with their chosen program of study. Of all, 11.1% were quite concerned about their future career and 6.35 percent were concerned about their future career. Of all, 15.6 percent of them preferred to change their program of study if possible. There was a difference between the responses of men and women regarding their field of education (P &#60;0.05).   Conclusion : Most students were not aware about their future career before choosing their field of study. We suggest information and consultation sessions before enrolling in university. Also by introducing postgraduates programs in the field more students become encouraged to undertake the under graduate program.  },

Information literacy affects research and educational activities. This study aims to evaluate the effect of weblog in increasing the information literacy of students. .   Methods: This experimental study was carried out on 60 students enrolled in schools of Allied Health, Nursing &#38; Midwifery and Public Health. They were randomly assigned into two arms of experiments and control. J the subjects in the experimental group received the educational program over two months via weblog. The level of information literacy in the two groups was assessed before and after training by questionnaire. Three steps were taken for examining validity and reliability of questionnaire including: translation to Farsi, reviewing by a specialist and estimation of the Cronbach's alpha (Cronbach's alpha=.0.88) .Finally data were analyzed using SPSS16.   Results: Out of total 60, %36.7of participants were men. There was not any significant difference in mean score of information literacy before training in the two groups (P&#62;0.05) , but after education the same test indicated a significant difference between the two groups (P&#60;0.001) . In addition it was showed a significant difference between the mean score of information literacy in experimental group before and after training (P&#60;0.001) .   Conclusion: Using weblog for education, is a successful model for instruction of information literacy for students of medical sciences.      },

abstract ={  Introduction: Clinical training of nurses forms the basis of the entire educational program. One of the controversial aspects of clinical training is method of clinical training. Peer education can be a useful adjunctive model for clinical skills training The present research was conducted to study the effect of a mentorship program on educational satisfaction of nursing students in Imam Reza Hospital of Birjand in 2012.   Methods: This quasi-experimental study was done on 60 masters nursing students of the 4th semester from the Islamic Azad University of Birjand who were randomly allocated into two groups,30 students in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. In the experimental group, there was a student of the 8th semester as the mentor for each three junior students, and in the other group, there was only an instructor available without any mentor. Educational satisfaction of the students was evaluated before and after their training with ascertained educational satisfaction questionnaire. The data was analyzed using SPSS V.18, independent t test, paired t, and chi-square test.   Results: The average of satisfaction score in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. The difference between the mean scores of the two groups was significant (p&#60;0.05).   Conclusion: Executing peer education program (mentorship) is more effective in increasing the nursing students' educational satisfaction. we suggest that clinical curriculum developers consider this method as a supplementary educational means .   },

abstract ={  Introduction: Motivation has a significant role in acquiring knowledge and scientific skills and the role of character is beyond the intelligence in educational success. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between personal characteristics and progression motivation in nursing students.   Methods: This is a correlation descriptive study whose sample includes 112 nursing students of Medical Science of Isfahan University chosen in 1390-1391 academic year with census sampling method. Character Multi-factorial Standard questionnaire (NEO-BFI) and Progression Motivation (ACM) and Strong’s Career Personality Types Short Form are used in order to data collection data analysis is done by calculating the average of progression motivation and personal characteristic (Neo and Strong) scores and the comparisons were done with step by step regression via 19th version of SPSS software.   Results: Motivation had a direct correlation with loyalty (r-21), extroversion (r-19) and seeking characteristics and a diverse correlation with Neuroticism (r-12), artistic characteristics (r-20), social characteristics (r-19) and realism (r-15). There is no meaningful correlation between educational motivation, acceptance characteristic and artistic and conventional type compatibility.   Conclusion: This study showed that some of the characteristics explain the progression motivation in nursing students. Therefore, it is suggested that nursing education professionals pay attention to the role of characteristics in order to admit these students.},

title = {PhD students’ expectations from their supervisors: A qualitative content analysis}, 
abstract ={  Introduction: Quality of research in PhD programs increases if supervisors become aware of students' expectations from them. This qualitative study aimed to explore expectations of PhD students from their supervisors was done.   Methods: This qualitative content analysis study was conducted on 22 graduated PhD students of Iran University of Medical Sciences, in 2014. The samples were purposefully selected and interviewed. All interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim.   Results: After analyzing and coding data, it was found that PhD students have four main expectations from their supervisors. These expectations consist of scientific support including help with selection of subject, preparation and registration of proposal, data collection and support for writing and examination of the thesis. Developing scientific skills and help with preparing manuscripts were other expectations. Emotional-social support with five categories including relationship between supervisor-student, general expectations of supervisor, supervisor personality characteristics, needed emotional skills and social activities related to thesis and finally providing adequate resources including financial support and access to facilities inside and outside the university were among the other expectations.   Conclusion: PhD students need to scientific, emotional, social and material supports from their supervisors in the process of performing thesis. These expectations should be told to supervisors.  },
